Back to work

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 17, 2012, 2:32 AM

Back to work tomorrow after a fabulous long holiday.

I'm sunburnt from yesterday's ride (52 kilometres) and am
just loafing around today taking advantage of the last little bit
of time that I have and doing as little as possible

I'm still sorting through all my photos but will post some soon.

P.S. - Calvin and Hobbes have been favourites of mine
for many years and now at last I can have this wonderful
journal skin.

I love to dabble in mainly digital abstract art and have been using Bryce for a number of years now.
I use PaintShop Pro and Photoshop Elements for any correction/manipulation; sometimes Gimp and/or Paint.NET.
I sometimes also use Apophysis and Xenodream to create fractals.

You really deserve them - I love all your images and I appreciate the work that goes into them and also that you share them with us.
I am currently stuck in a rut and looking for a fresh view but I'm sure that I'll pull something out of the cooking pot some time soon.
I'm also tired of the colours that I have been using so I'm also looking for fresh material to work with. A more  subtle and subdued palette, perhaps?
Anyway I am sure to bump into "just the thing".
Cheers for now and I will chat to you soon.

Hi Pamela - thanks for those kind words.

So, you feel stuck in a rut. It is a problem that crops up all the time in creative work. You do have to cast around as well as taking stock. Playing with something completely new can be a idea - say Ultra Fractal - or going back to an older area.

Regarding palettes, you do have a very varied selection, but they too can turn stale if your other ideas lose appeal. If you go to something subtle and subdued, then you would need the structures and designs to match. The idea of taking palettes from images, as you did with one of the Tom photographs, seems to me to have a lot more potential for exploration. That would take you more into natural and generally harmonious palettes. Another idea might be to se inverted palettes where you use photo editing software to invert all or some of the hues. That can have dramatic or subtle effects depending on how you use the technique.

Anyway, you'll sail out of the doldrums soon enough.

I'll be in touch re SA plan when Inget back to Manchester.
