I've got it - the connection I was struggling for! I have two paintings by an artist called Jonathon Meuli and he uses a technique that gives colour renditions similar to this - even to the palette! However, he has a figurative content, say flowers or a plant, to give more form.

Brilliant stuff.

Hi Pamela - mention of Meuli and his website made me look him up myself. The following link is to the only work in the Flower Study series, of which we have two, that I can find on the web. [link]

He's an interesting guy, used to be known as a pencilman, but in fact has a wide talent as you've probably realised. Glad you like his work.
